This year’s annual convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God slated for August 8-14 of August tagged ‘perfect jubilee’ was a unique one because it marked the celebration of the church 70th anniversary and 40th year convention on the camp ground.
RAPAC, as a department was able to provide quality social, health and spiritual services intervention to over 5000 people during the convention Our target groups during the Jubilee convention include health seeking individuals, pregnant, women, adolescent/youths, pastors/ministers/workers, aged, barbers, nannies, hairdressers, Food vendors amongst others.
Prior to the commencement of the convention, RAPAC conducted medical health screening checks for over 800 people which include; national kitchen staffs, Barbers, Nannies and Hair dressers and food vendors will provide services and handle/prepare/sell food during the program. The exercise was done in collaboration with national kitchen leadership, CRM and Environmental health department. The medical screening was necessary to ensure food safety and hygiene for convention participants. Staff and volunteers were engaged in sharing and distribution of behavioral change communication materials (BCC) to convention participants.
RAPAC also focused on COVID 19 prevention and vaccination, health/hygiene, disease prevention and control. This was done by creating awareness and providing the congregants as well as all departments on the camp packages containing liquid hand wash and alcohol based sanitizers. we also collaborated with Blue Coral Healthcare Services for COVID-19 testing.
As part of our objectives to reach as many as possible during the convention, RAPAC health stands were positioned in various strategic points on the camp ground to provide basic health checks, counseling and prompt referral services to all care and treatment centers located on the camp. The various tests conducted include but not limited to blood sugar tests (Random/Fasting), Prostrate cancer screening for men above 40 years, Malaria parasite tests, HIV screening, Hepatitis B and C screening test. Those identified to be positive were appropriately counseled and provided support at RAPAC office before being transferred to health centre in the camp or general hospital in their locality.
RAPAC collaborated with other health related units i.e. Ogun state ministry of health (MoH), Sebeccly Cancer Care, Philips Health Management organization (HMO) , GORA HMO, Blue Coral Healthcare services, National Kitchen, Camp Maternity, National ursher department, Kingford Security and environmental health units so as to reach more people during this year’s convention with improved social and healthcare services.
In conclusion, Spiritual and health information and counseling were also offered as appropriate to everyone who visited our medical stands. Some of those counseled gave their lives to Christ. It was perfect jubilee indeed as we were able to reach multitudes of congregants who expressed their gratitude for the timely, free health, social and spiritual intervention.
