The Redeemed Aids Programme (RCCG/RAPAC) is the social and public health unit of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, initiated by the General Overseer of the church, Pastor E.A. Adeboye in the month of May, 1998.

The RAPAC Initiative was established by Pastor E.A. Adeboye in 1998, with the mission of empowering the church (Redeemed Christian Church of God) and its host communities towards living a healthier life through behavioral change communication, access to reproductive health information and products as well as quality health care services and support for less privileged in the society.

The main activities of RAPAC till date have focused on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). RAPAC currently has HIV/AIDS activities in 50 communities in 10 states of Nigeria spanning the six-geo-political zones. Presently, the organization has 47 staff and over 5, 000 volunteers.

RAPAC participated in the development of the National Plan of Action on OVC, the Standard Operational Procedures for OVC and the National OVC Guidelines. RAPAC works directly with support groups of People Living with HIV/AIDS, and has been involved in the capacity building and mentoring of other non-governmental organizations in the communities. It has particularly built the capacity of these organizations in Community Counseling and HIV-Competence framework, (A community mobilization approach that promotes community reflection around OVC needs and concerns and helps communities plan and implement appropriate/sustainable activities). RAPAC’s works and best practices have received recognition at national and international conferences.

We have a viable governance structure with sound administrative and financial management capacity. The church General Overseer (Pastor E.A Adeboye) is the overall Project Executor, while the Board of Governors provides necessary support on all projects. The day to day activities of RAPAC is overseen by the Executive Director, who coordinates all project activities: The Executive Director reports to the Board of Governor. RAPAC programs have received funding primarily from United States Government (USG) sources, (USAID and CDC). Grant awards to RAPAC programs range from $40,000 to $1m per annum.

The project accounting is centralized and coordinated from RAPAC office in Lagos. The accounts department consisting of a chartered accountant and 6 accountants ensures that funds are spent in accordance with the mandates given by donors. Strict controls are in place to ensure that funds are not misappropriated. RAPAC is run on sound business principles, maintains high operational standards and ensures compliance with financial transparency according to generally accepted accounting principles. From our inception, every set of financial statements has received unbiased approval from our external auditors.

Operational excellence is achieved through key technical, operational and training partnerships that use best practice methodologies to ensure predictable outputs, consistent in meeting community needs. Programs are developed in accordance with needs and managed in a modular way to maximize economies of scale and to benefit from synergies that can be derived from working within an integrated community service model.
